Welcome to the forum, Henry! I solo-skated Montreal last year and I believe we chatted briefly. This was about 20 hours in so I doubt I said anything brilliant and memorable. Looking forward to seeing all of you in 45 days!

Default Need another skater on the team?

As Gustavo mentioned, I would like to join the skatelog 24 hr Montreal team. I skate in Chicago with National Skate Patrol, together with Tom who is also on the team. I'm not superfast but not too terrible either.

Some people were in a hurry to get going, but not Howard, Joey, Kent, or myself. Maybe not coincidentally, the latter 3 were the last three there still skating in preparation for a strong showing 12 days from now.

Like Brian said, I could not herd all of the cats to the close-by monuments for a team picture. Tourists come from all over the world to see the DC sites, but some of the team did not want to skate 10 minutes to the Jefferson Memorial or 15 minutes to the Lincoln Memorial, they just wanted to start skating laps for training. So we took the picture in the back parking lot of the Hains Point Golf Course.

For you Jessica, here are some monument pictures. This is the view that I have driving from Virginia over the 14th Street Bridge to Hains Point.

The view of the Washington Monument from the north side of Hains Point.

The Jefferson Memorial which is located at the base of Haines Point.

I hope that you enjoyed the quick tour of the monuments. See you in less than two weeks.

Are you having a team dinner on Friday night? We are having our dinner at Wienstein & Gavino's which is at 1434 Crescent Street. Lawrence, Brian, and Bryan (3 soloists) and their support crews are joining us. If you don't already have plans, we can add SL to the reservation list.

Who is on the SL team this year?

Hmmmm what kind of food is it? The team is set on pasta methinks. I will bring it up to them and see what they think! Thanks for inviting us

Never mind, just looked it up. I'm so lazy sometimes. What time?

We have eaten there the past two years and the food and atmosphere is very good. Our reservation is for 6:30. Let me know if you all want to eat there and I can adjust the reservation.

Default Dinner at Weinstein & Gavinos

Jessica - I was able to change our dinner reservation from 25 to 40 so we are good to go for Skater's Quest, Team SkateLog, Lawrence, Brian, and Bryan to eat dinner together at 6:30 Friday evening.

Here is their web site http://www.wiensteinandgavinos.com/main.php?l=e

The wet drizzle has come but skaters are still going strong. "My" solo boys are looking great! Go Texas and Lawrence. + team Flying Fossils. Even a Subway trailer here this year. Good deal.

Forecast is 60% chance rain tonight, temp 15C. That's what we had most of today in Burlington ... we're now clear, sunny & temp is climbing and this better weather is heading for Montreal. Forecast for Montreal tomorrow is sunny with temp of 22C.

Wondergirl, any updates on Skatelog Team, if possible?? Tell Lawrence we're thinking about him!!

The 6 PM local time paper posted results had them 13/24. The 2nd big rain has finally stopped and many are switching to dry gear. Lawrence has lost a toenail but still going.

@ 2009 hour (8:09PM) Fossils have moved up to 4th and going strong. Al's new bright green helmet covers have been a help for spotting each other. Skatelog is 13th. Both teams are listed in the Fitness category. I don't see an Advanced for this year so now one says 'sandbagger' for anyone. ;-) elite (3 teams), fitness (24), rec (50), solos (24). 2 in each last 2 groups have no data. So maybe no shows?
Solos I know:
Johnny 5th
McKenney 6th
Shicoff 11th
Lawrence 12th.
These guys r skating smart and plugging away for the long haul.
Sorry short earlier reply. Am keeping busy. Will try to post a couple more times through the event.
