Default BOEN back in production

I have posted this on both as I don't know how the forum quite works as this is ment for Quad speed.
Hi to all, sorry to upset some people with the sale of my Boen's, but hey I got bloody good money for them, lol
Some great news for all though, I have spoken to Dario at Boen and they are planning on bringing back a new Lightweight Speed Plate which I am sure will still reign superior to all gear out there, I personally can't wait to get my hands on a pair.
So if any one feels the same shoot Dario an email at; info@boen.it
so they get a hustle on production.

Ciao

Default Hmmmm

Been hearing this for a while.

I really hope it does happen, but won't hold my breath.

I have asked over and over on their Facebook page and while they did say months ago, that they were thinking of it. Still nothing concrete.

I would imaging them bringing out a plate with a Toe Stop to cash in on the Derby. But truly hope they do an NTS aswell.

NTS. I would love to not have to spend $500+ for a Boen.

Nothing now, is made like it was in the old days.

Default Reply from Boen

Got this reply back today:

Hello Karl, thank you for your interest. We don't yet restart production of the Speed quad plate.
Currently we are offering "Boiani Star" plates and soon we'll go to introduce a new model of "Star" quad plate with quick release axle system which should be ready for May.

If you read the press release, it sounds like Jackson Ultima has no association with Bauer. The owner of Jackson Ultima is just the grandson of the founder of Bauer Skates.

I would much rather see the Boen Speed made again than get a plate made by Atom.

IF Bauer made a speed boot I'd be interested but it's more likely they'll stick to hockey boots in my opinion.

Also - as far as I'm aware they have zero experience in making quad plates - every Bauer quad I've ever seen has been on Variflex, Pro-8 or Playmaker plates.

Well here they are, these will be available in a certain shop by the end of April for $299, a little disappointing for a speed plate that they don't have clip axles and they don't have the sexyness as the originals but still nice to see that they have brought out a speed plate for quads.

Boen B1 NTS Plate; (no toe stop)
Professional plates, made in Italy, for recreational/speed roller skaters.

Features Include;
* Plate and trucks are high quality aluminum alloy
* King-pins (12mm) and axles (7mm) in steel
* Snap adjustment system of steering
* 17 degree double action trucks
* Truck with adjustable spherical pivot
* Self-locking nut axle system
* Adjustment tool kit
* Set fixing screws and nuts
* Set aluminum spacers

Frame weight (size 16) 520 gr complete.

Size 12 Size 13 Size 14 Size 15 Size 16 Size 17
EU 33-35 EU 35-37 EU 37-39 EU 39-41 EU 41-43 EU 43-45
125mm 135mm 145mm 155mm 165mm 175mm
Star B1 plate uses 12mm King Pins instead of the 10mm fitted to the RK plates. B1 plates are a little heavier, but are much stronger.

Default Hmmm

Funny.

I just recieved this email from BOEN

Quote:
Hi Colin, sorry for my late answer.
Currently we are working to make a new model of quad speed plate.
It will be not a remake of the old Boen Special. Anyway this new plate will
be derived from the existing STAR RK but will be noticeably lighter and
equipped with quick release axle system.
Stay tuned on our web site...
Regards, Mara
BOEN SAS ITALIA

So the above pics seem to be innacurate. In the axle dept at least

Nice looking plates, but I wouldn't call 520g "light weight"!
But if they come with clips then at least it is another option.

Default Re New Boens

Well I gotta say they look pretty good to me. Be interesting to see how they hold up, good possibility they will be on my Christmas wish list along with some Bont leathers and Turbo 97"s.

the picture is actually of the star (now boen by the sound of it) RK. The B1 has a totally different kingpin set up where the cushion adjustment is done right next to the plate and it has adjustable pivot pins. Clearly the plate above does not have adjustable pivot pins and the cushions are adjusted at the floor end of the kingpin. The link below will show you the B1 plate.
