Oh, an I forgot to say, I can build the heel forward, back, wide, thick, flat,... whatever you want. If you want it an inch forward, I can do it!

It may just be me.....but.....
Those boots look so dialed in, so precise in the way they were made, custom.
Why would you want the plate to hang out beyond the boot at any point? Is this something that will be trimmed off in the future or am I just a little picky?
Other than that they look great!

After another look I tend to agree. I think the plate would look better if it followed the contour of the bottom of the boot instead of sticking out at the corners.

I agree... that plate is a bigger one than I had originally thought I was going to put on.on production boots the heel will be a little bit bigger and rounder. Also I will be asking what type of plate will be going on the boots.

I've seen many boots with the plate hanging off of them when mounted, esp on Bont boots with the hard sole like Jimmy's. As long as the axles are in a good spot, thats all that matters.

Most of skate mech's mounts hang off the front

Just proper alignment with axles!

Oh no doubt. I have a Bont with an Advantage thats got some corners hanging over the edge. I was just referring to the looks. You gotta a bada$$ looking, high dollar custom boot and you should be able to fit the plate under it somehow without exposing the edges of the plates like that is all I`m saying. Like a mid `80`s Lamborghini Countach with all those bumpers that had to be put on it so it ride our roads lol, it was very hideous looking. Not that these skates are, by no means. I`d rock em but I`d see if I could match the plate base to boot contour.

So are we agreeing that this is a failure, and Jimmy should pass the boots of to some poor shlub who will be forced to live with them, and then make an acceptable pair of boots for himself? Because that looks like the consensus to me, and I have an idea for someone we could stick with these.

Honestly, I do think there is one thing that could make them look better. Sitting on top of a first place podium.

Nope, I am not saying this is a failure. Thats what makes customs custom. Most of the plates are pert near the same as far as the footprint is concerned where it meets the boot. Never once said anything about how it would perform. I just said "looks", did ya see that part? They have a good plate on them now so why not take the extra time and kinda help the plate fit under the boot a little better. Thats all I`m sayin. I never said anything about them failing so no, I will not agree with you.

Guys, this is exactly why I wanted to post these here.. get some feedback... good and bad. When I build the boots, I will be asking what plate it is, so there wont be any overhang, I agree it looks weird. That's just looks anyway.. as long as the axles are where you want em, that's what matters.

Thank you for the feedback, and the changes are already set on production boots. Now, just to get some sold and on peoples feet!

Sorry. I should have made the sarcasm more obvious. I actually noticed the plate things as well, but I care more about speed than looks on my skates. I haven't completely bought into the idea of carbon fiber quad boots yet, but I probably will soon.

I`ve got both, or 3 actually. I have both a carbon fiber and fiber glass Bonts and the all leather Riedell 1150. I love all 3 for all purpose skating but when it comes to laying down some power to the floor I prefer the Bont QRC. No flex and light as a feather on my feet.
I`m not necessarily into the looks thing ALL that much myself but if you can make the looks work along with the purpose, which I`m quite sure he can, then I would love to see that as well.
