Default 1st season In-House Rink hockey League

We just finished our first season of our In-House Rink Hockey league at my rink.
We started in August with Tuesday Night drop in Hockey and had enough kids stick with it that we started our league in September. It's a 12 and under league. We played a 10 week season with Playoffs and then the Championship our final week.
It was a good season with all the teams staying relatively close and in the hunt and finally the second seed going into the playoffs pulling off an upset in the Championship Game. The MVP had 31 goals with two other players close behind and our Top Goalie averaging only 2 goals a game against him.
Our Awards Party, the Week after the Championship, was a big hit with pizza, drinks, skating and of course, awards.
Thirty miles to the south, the same thing had been going on at Decatur Skate. They've had an In-House league since 2006 and hold their games on Monday, where have ours on Tuesday.
Don Allen, the Coach at Decatur calls me up and suggest a Title Game between his Champion at Decatur and our Champion at Bowie. A traveling plaque to go to the winning rink at the end of each season. The figure even has quad skates on!

The kids from both rink came to play Monday night. It was a great back and forth game with no team ever getting more than a one point advantage. In the end, with 10 seconds to play in regulation, Bowie scored to take a 4 - 3 lead and then hold off Decatur until time ran out to take the Championship.

I am very proud of the players from my league and am looking forward to our second season starting in February as well as our rink hosting a South Central Region Rink Hockey tournament in January.

The Pink Team, an all girl team. (except for the goalie)

Yes, That's Pop's Skateland. It's changed a bit since those photo's were taken but is and will probably be a work in progress for a few years to come.
