*** The SkateLog Forum Has Been Replaced by SkateDebate Dot Com ***

This announcement is to let everyone know that after hosting the SkateLog Forum and its predecessors for nearly 20 years, I have decided it is time to permanently turn the forum over to a new owner and administrator. I cannot think of anyone more suitable to take on that role than my SkateLog forum co-host, Florida skater Jessica Wright. I am pleased to announce that Jessica has agreed to establish and host a brand new skating forum, configured like the SkateLog Forum, but with a new name and a new Web Site. This new forum is 100% owned and operated by Jessica.

NEW FORUM NAME: SkateDebate Forum

Default Rollerblade Founder will Skate Northshore

Scott Olson, the founder of Rollerblade, will be competing in the Northshore Inline Marathon in Duluth Minnesota USA on September 26, 2006. Here is more information in a press release issued by Rowbike, Scott Olson's newest company:

Rollerblade Inventor to Compete in Duluth Inline Skate Marathon

Scott Olson, the inventor of Rollerblades, will challenge 4,000 inline skaters as he aims to finish in the top half of the NorthShore Inline Marathon.

At 7:30a.m. on Saturday, September 16, participants of the 11th annual NorthShore Inline Marathon in Duluth, MN will race against the man who started it all: Rollerblade inventor, Scott Olson.

Although inline marathons are nothing new to the Rollerblade veteran, this will be Olson's first time participating in the NSI Marathon. “I used to put on marathons in the beginning,” says Olson, 47 “now I’m a competitor and feel like I'm in better shape than when I used to blade across the state. It’s so much fun seeing racers of all ages and genders.” Four thousand participants are expected to compete in the NSI Marathon, the largest inline skate and American Roller Cup event in the US. Olson aims to finish in the top half.

A life-long entrepreneur and innovator, Olson created the Rollerblade in 1979 when he discovered some vintage inline skates at a shop in Bloomington, MN and modified them using hockey boots and new wheel materials. His inline skates, which he named Rollerblades, caught on and sparked a new phenomenon that continues today. Olson’s inventions do not stop at Rollerblades; they include the Skybike, the Lunar Bed, and Olson’s newest invention, the Rowbike. The Rowbike is a rowing machine and bicycle hybrid and just another one of his attempts to get people out of the gym and onto the streets. See the Rowbike at Rowbike.com or live in motion at the NSI Marathon.
