Default Best beach trails in southern california

What are the best beach trails that southern Californians skate (ASIDE FROM VENICE BEACH)? Give your opinion and descriptions. I hate sandy trails. Some beach trails are kept pretty tidy and some are a mess. Looking for some good beach trails to try!!

I think this is the one I was told about but have not skated. I was told it is longer than the 3.1 miles that it shows. Perhaps it continues but is not designated as such. I think the direction might be better as far as wind blown sand.

I hate the sand at Venice too.

I've just started outdoor skating, and tried out the path from from Huntington Beach north to Seal Beach today.

It's about a mile each way. Not much sand on the pathway. The paving was about:
  • 70% very smooth
  • 20% not so good
  • 10% let this rocky madness end!

There were a few light inclines each way, and those were not too close to the busy people hotspots so that worked out okay. Bike & foot traffic is extremely heavy near the HB pier area, but thins out quickly when skating away.

I only saw one other skater on the path, btw. He seemed pretty surprised to see someone else on skates. Gave me a wave & a laugh. Lots & lots of bikes & pedestrians, though.

There are a few tourist websites that list places to rent skates & blades at Huntington Beach. Always call ahead to doublecheck that. I know Zack's has not had skate rentals for years now, but several sites still list them as the #1 spot to go. (Still a good choice for bikes & boards, mind you).

At any rate: Huntington Beach to Seal Beach. About a mile, with a bit of tough paving. Mostly good.

Next time I go back, I'm taking the path to the south. It's supposedly 12 miles or so (lol no way will I be able to make that far) each way, in that direction.

I'll bring a camera next time, as well.

Default beach

South Bay trail goes through 11 beach towns from Pacific Palisades to Torrance Beach (south of Redondo.) It's about 22 miles long one way. (Yes it does go through Venice for about two miles.)
