Good job Bryan. Homer popped in my head first time I ever heard of this event. Head tilt back with tongue hanging out, drool added to that dry gurguling sound he makes.
I had a Twinkie about a month ago. That's the closest to training I have for the event. I can't believe some people last year ate 2 doz. That's not right. Tour de Squiggy Donut TT. Inhale a box at the line then race a lap. That I wanna see... maybe.

Up to eight a day? And well your idea about the donut a lap for Squiggy is fine, you'll have to attend though since that would make it a true enduro-race. Laps at Squiggy are 7 miles, so if you want 20 donuts, hmmm lots of miles need to be skated!! ![]()

I'd consider going to Squiggy it sounds like a fun event, but Texas Hell Week is that same weekend ![]()

So you'd rather got to "hell" than come to Squiggy? Hmmm priorities my dear ![]() Just so you know there's a 6hr off road mountain bike race on Saturday (http://www.squiggyclassic.org/schedule.htm that should make your legs just about warm enough for a skate marathon on Sunday! ![]()

![]() If my bike is off-road, it's 'cause I fell asleep while riding (again). Now, if it was a 6 hour time-trial, that would be fun. Of course, if you added some hills I might be more tempted, either that or donuts.

I started obsessing 15 months ago after the Joey Chestnut thing. Houston Inline prevented me from 2007 participation. I'm a slow eater and will take 12 min to eat 24. There'll be 5-ish min overhead. So I'd need average 17 to 19 mph. This means time trial bike. I never mixed {aero position, 2 dozen donuts, 80% MHR}. Naturally I emailed the organizer re. regurgitation rule. I was ignored. I suppose winning with skates is possible, considering McKenney, the TT specialist, has them easy-to-clean boots. And starting 2007, skinny-Asian-ness is no longer a competitive requirement. |

I'll let you hang on Renee......cause I'm letting Brian pull the whole way! LOL. When it gets to wear I can't see my skates I gotta let someone pull me around those 30 miles! Save the chocolate covered ones for me please.

Party Saturday night 11/1! I'm playing DD to the RobinBryians. Subie is getting lots of TLC today so no tossing cookies (or pre-race donuts) in her no matter how many lanes I change at one time in the span of a mile. It's just Texas driving. and Boston, and Cali, and...
I know Bryan will supposedly be tired from his 400k the day before but hopefully man, you save a tiny bit to be able to skate just fast enough to keep me winded to not sing while skating. I know how much you love that. But as added bonus NO ear music players allowed! so I'll be making up my own lyrics unless you keep the pace. Or maybe I'll be a Ride Marshal. Got the call out yesterday morning they were looking for some to work the event. Am anxious to put my Bont cycling shoes on a test run. (Ride Marshal background, Houston to Austin is the largest MS150 bike event in the country capped at 13,000 riders which filled in 7 hours this year. The longer distance of 55 miles for the Donut is a Recommended Ride (training ride) for the MS150. Marshals are trained help for safety, and emergencies.) Or maybe I'll sleep in and you all have a lovely time in this perfect weather. Sunny every day. Mild temps... zzzzz

If you won't draft so close and sing Madanna songs, I won't get distracted and skate off into the bushes again. OK?

A group of 15 or more skaters showed up at the Tour de Donut on Sunday (A fundraiser for Make-a-wish). Even though it wasn't an inline race, when you consider that some of the people there were racers from out of town (gospeedracer, hoffmonster and company) as well as a few local guns (wondergirl among others), you've got to figure that it was going to be fast.
We got there early Sunday morning, after getting limited sleep the night before (excuse #1), checked in and found out that we had registered too late to get timing chips, so we would have to use our own timing system. Wandered around a bit and started running into other skaters, some of whom I hadn't seen in well over a year; it was good to be back in Houston. Since there was plenty of time to kill before the start, I started warming up. I would hate to try and do a skate of this magnitude cold; so I went and ate two donuts. Feeling better I put on my skates and waited. All the skaters gathered near the back and waited as they rolled everyone out in waves, and then we were off. We started with a long paceline, and a pair of cyclists for support. Once we got rolling the pace picked up, everyone was feeling good. We got to the first rest stop, which was crowded with donut eating cyclists, so we went past it to a store in Fulshear (they have an outdoor faucet where we refilled water bottles). As we headed out from there I started to feel my legs wear out, so I made sure that I wouldn't cause a gap and stepped out of the paceline. I guess the 250 miles I rode on Saturday had taken it's toll (excuse #2). The good thing was, I was prepared for this to happen, so I drafted my support cyclist to the next restop. Once there I discovered the rest of the skaters planning for the stretch of road we were on, since it was chipseal for the next 7 miles. Since I'm on 80s, I don't do nearly as well as the folks on 110s on chipseal (excuse #3). While at the rest stop I ate four donuts, and drank some Gatorade. While this isn't as bad as mixing chocolate Spiz with strawberry flavored water it's not something that I would recommend for the faint of heart - or stomach. After surviving the chipseal, and picking up a few of the smarter skates (can you say "Taxi!"; I knew you could), the pace picked up for the sprint to the finish. I just kept a steady/slow tempo and finished within sight of the sprint pack. Since I had a hard workout, I wanted to make sure that I cooled down properly, so after taking off the skates I had another donut. All in all, a fun way to spend the morning.

This was Hoffmonsters report..........hope you don't mind me posting this Brian!
![]() Oh man!! what an awesome event. 1000s of cyclists, and a bunch of Great Skaters!! I went to the site.. 550 Dozen (6600) donuts consumed!! I had.... none, I don't think my tummy could've taken it I was not.... um... feeeeling well... 30 minutes before gun time. I won't go into why.. It was self induced! Los Cuscos, Los Kicked my a$$... ![]() All it took was getting skates on and being perpendicular, and I was ready to go! The weather was just perfect for this event!! mid 70s clear with light winds. With all of little jaunts to find ways around the chip and seal in Brookshire,we probably did about 30 miles total. A lot of it pretty fast.. We probably had 3-4 groups of folks skating together, depending on speed. Our core group of Robin, JD, Ed, and I clipped along @ about 20 mph most of the way. Ed's girlfriend Karen did an awesome job pacing us on her bike, and keeping it pretty quick! A few folks sagged the chip and seal, and joined us about 5-6 miles out. Renee, Cooper, Silvio, and, and.. I can't remember he name (beautiful tan legs!!!... ![]() had a little sprint at the end.. Mr Fast feet got me!!!... ![]() I felt a lot better then I thought @ the end, still had plenty of Los Cucos juice left int he tank We did stop twice so folks could get donuts, water, fruit. the volunteers were awesome.. After the skate, most of us went over the Fuddruckers to get a bite. All in all a fantastic event. one to do again for sure! All for a great cause. The Make a wish foundation. I've heard a bit of fun was had at the marathon downtown too! Congrats to Alex, Rob, and young Joseph Burns (who is just tearing it up this year) Hope to skate with you all soon @ some point! BrianH

As few Skate/Cycling events we have near H-Town---what's the odds of two big ones being on the same day?
