Ask DocSk8 (Expert Indoor Skate Building Advice) This forum is different then the other SkateLog forums in that it is not a discussion forum, but rather a place you can ask skate building expert Fred "DocSk8" Benjamin about building and repairing indoor speed, derby, and jamskate quad roller skates. Hi Doc
I have some pre 04 Mistral Plates and needed a Kingpin (Snapped). I ordered one and I bet you've guessed I've received a 13mm not a 12mm one I never even thought when I ordered it even though I took one off my Dance plates and realised it didn't fit. Being as I'm in the UK I have access to 13mm x 1 taps have you converted any and if so did you experience any issues? If not I may do them all or try ordering the right one. |

I would get the OG 12mm part if possible. As far as the tapping it bigger??
As far as I am aware, that is what TM technologies (makers of Roll line) did. However, I have a machinist do things like that when going to a bigger size if I want it correct. If you stuff it up, even a little, you will feel it. If you have a machinist do it, make sure he sets the mill head on the front and the back.. If I remember correctly the angles are a few degrees different. Have the machinist verify before just swapping ends and making chips fly. Good luck.
