Default Santa ana speed team

WHAT I REMEMBER ABOUT SKATE RANCH SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA
IS THE GREAT SPEED TEAMS THEY HAD OVER MANY YEARS.
LED BY MARY AND GRADY MERRILL THEY HAD MANY GREAT CHAMPIONS.
WHEN YOU RACED AGAINST SANTA ANA YOU RACED THE BEST.
GRADY WAS THE COACH AND HE RACED IN THE LATE 50'S EARLY 60'S.
MARY WAS A MANY TIME SENIOR LADY AND RELAY CHAMPION - BOTH ARE
IN THE HALL OF FAME.
OTHER TOP RACERS WERE BROTHERS MIKE AND PAT LAYPORT - MARK COLE -
TONY GOMEZ - WENDELL SMITH - MARK LABEDA
SISTERS SANDY & KAREN WEST - DAUGHTER DIANE MERRILL - SHERRI
LABEDA - SISTERS SANDY & JULIE DULANEY.
THERE WERE OTHER CHAMPIONS WHO SKATED RELAYS FOR SANTA ANA
SUCH AS TED ATTEBURY - JEFF McDERMOTT - PAM PRYOR.
WHEN I GET MY OLD TAPES & DVD'S OUT THERE ARE MANY OLD TEAMS
THAT COME TO THIS OLD MAN'S MIND AND USUALLY LEAVE A SAD FEELING.

I skated at Skate Ranch some back in the day....but I mostly skated out of the Harbor Roller Rink in Costa Mesa, Ca. But I am deeply involved with both rinks still even though they are gone....They both have their own facebook pages....Skate Ranch http://www.facebook.com/groups/254980580053/
HARBOR ROLLER RINK ALUMNI http://www.facebook.com/groups/312928818746512/ is the one I am hosting.

Marcia Yager was one of yours I remember her joining my friend Ken Hutter...with Ken Sutton and Chris Snyder at the Pan Am games....in 78"
what a team. I thought you might want to catch up with her. If you do I have her facebook info and a few others if you want them....I am sure she would like to here from you.

Sunday practices at Santa Ana was almost like skating regionals. You were skating against most of the same people who would be the serious contenders.

Default Marcia yager

I'm still real close with marcia. We e-mail and call one
another often. She is still in top shape and inline skates
outdoors for fun and exercise. She can still wear her old
uniforms. She is like a daughter to the wife and i.

Do you ever hear from Richard Sada? Last I saw him was in the 70's sometime when we skated out of Mission Viejo
