Funny you should bring this thread up again. I emailed my guy today to ask how his project is progressing. I do know of two sources that have some small 351 and 641 models.

Makes you wonder where these boots have been all these years. I'm guessing someone bought a rink and found these on a shelf somewhere.

I am sure that youre right on with that theory. I cannot believe all of those boxes in the picture. My guys are down in GA and TX but they also only have small sizes. The guy in GA if trying to get patterns made to reproduce the 641 and 351 models. He has has some problems but still seems determined to make them. But if you have kids these are the bomb for them so get some.
I alreay have a 2 and a 3 for my youngest so I guess I will get her a 4 from this guy on ebay.

That seller is a new eBay seller. Only has 2 for a feedback. I'll wait.

Tracy:

Do you have the URL to go to Ebay to look at the pics you are speaking about of the Oberhammers?

Default counterfeit, counterfeit 351's

Hey XLRACER - are these from your boot man? They are listed by the same people but described as oberhamer "like" boots and are clearly not original 351's

They could be but the last time we talked he was not making any yet. He had some of these same boots and told me that they had been produced in South America. He also had a case of these. They were stamped a size 9 but looked more like a 10 or 11. I would ask for the length of the boot before buying one of these. Also they are not made from the same buttery soft leather that all Oberhamers were made from. Its not going to be the same.

Tracy:

Up till about 73, all the Oberhamer 61BRS were made from Kangaroo leather exclusively. Then when the Australian Govt put them on the endangered species list, the hides stopped coming into the country, so Roy switched over to a very supple cowhide, nicknamed "Kangocow".

Just a little history lesson....

Curious who is the guy in Jersey selling them, anyone know??

Really weird thing with that ebay deal. They have that picture with all of those boxes but they will not tell you exactly what they have. Everyone that has asked about them gets the reply sorry I dont have that size. I emailed them and ask for a list of models and sizes but they have not responded.
If they dont give up any info, there arent gonna sell one pair.
The seller is new on ebay so just like Chuck, I kinda leary. I would really like to by the old school size 4 for Shelby so Im holding off for now.

Default Real or Fishy?

Tracy:

I have never purchased anything off of EBay. I know many who have and not had a problem, and some that wish they did not. I guess the only way to conservatively go about it is to check out references. The price seems fishy, and if it starts to smell like a fish, it may very well be one!

Okay, I am still really unsure about this person in NJ. One of the pictures shows several boxes but I have asked for an inventory and they will not respond. Make me wonder what they have. As far as those white replicas go, my friend in GA has some also and we have looked at them very close. Its not a bad boot but is is no where near an Oberhamer. The leather is extremely stiff. I didnt like it.
Now onto an update from GA. Shay sent me a note today telling me that all of the patterns and molds are finally complete and the machinery needed to make the boots has been purchased he said that he can finally see a start up of making these boots in the next few weeks. Again, he has promised to send one to me as soon as they are done so I can skate on it and give him some feed back. If they are quality product and he can take orders. I will send out the news to everyone that is interested and have everyone email me sizes and addresses and I will forward it to him and he can contact each of you to arrange making your boots for you.
