Default Texas Practices

What About The Old Cotton Bowl Rink.
We Practiced There Before The 1972 Nationals And That Rink Had More Powder Down Than There Is Sand In A Desert.
I'd Say The Older Male Racers Trained Alot By Their Selves
No Girls Or Young Kids There.

Default Riverside Hockey team

This message is for Shoes99:

The picture you have posted on page 5 of this forum from Dec. of 07 which shows The 67 Riverside Hockey team brings back many memories.

I am the ? in the lower right hand corner.

Both Bob Trotta and Skip were in my wedding. I see Bob every few years but I still am in regular conract with Skip. I haven't seen or heard from Chuck since he sold his rink in Kentucky and retired from coaching speed and now that I own a rink of my own I do occasionally run across Ted at RSA conventions and Billy shows up every once in a while at Nationals. I know Gil died some years ago, however what became of everyone else I have no idea.

I would sell my soul for a copy of this picture....please email me at skatetown@earthlink.net if you would be willing to send me a copy and I will arrange to pay whatever the cost.

Thanks,
Harry Stuart

I skated out of NJ in the old ARSA from 1965 to 1969. I married an "R" skater, Buddy Carter, in 1977 so I followed him to art meets, and we finally teamed up in 1979 to skate NOVICE dance, (we were pretty bad, but made it out of the Eastern Region). Buddy skated and WON Classic Mens figures in 1980 then hung up his skates. I skated up until 1981.....
I have continued to stay connected to skating and have gone a few times to ART nationals just to watch. I took my Mom to the Art Worlds when they were in Tampa.
We are very close to John Drewry's family. We miss John dearly.
Charlene lives in NJ and has 8 grandchildren. John only saw one before he died. Dinah, John's only daughter, lives in Omaha, NE and her third child is due this Spring.

Thumbs up nice to know you

well it's very nice to know you. i heard of john drewry but i didn't know him. but it was still a big loss for skating and i'm sure even more for his family. i started skating speed in 1974 and i skated one of the last A nationals in toledo, and i was pretty bad also, lol. well again nice to know you. stay healthy and safe.

bob.

5 laps - 54.9
15 laps - 2:59.2
30 laps - 5:59.9

I may even have a pic of Charlie santoro and us together at the banquet some place.

Default 1975 Nationals

Seems Someone Sent In The Speed Results - Picture - And Article From 1975 Nationals.
I Noticed A Lot Of Skaters Including My Daughter That Racer On Our Teams.

Also Saw On The Front Sheet Of Our Daily Newspaper A Article About Swimming (racing) Uniforms.
Seems This Young Lady Is Spomsored By Nike But If She Wears A Nike Suit She'll Surely Get Beaten In The Olympic Trials.
There Is A New Full Body Uniform That Cost $550.00
And Doesn't Last Long - Hope It Doesn't Disappear While They Are Competing/.
This Will Cost Many Teams Including Colleges Lost Of Swimmers And Maybe The Sport To Be Dropped.
This Brings Me Back To 1977 The First
Year Of Plastic Wheels And The High Cost Of All That Garbagw That Never Worked
If There Was 10,000 Registered Racers Back Then And Say 1,700
Today And Back Then There Were 26 Total Events And Today Maybe 160 Events When Was It The Hardest To Win.
Swimmig Better Watchout Or The Sport Could Outlaw "water"
