Please, this is a good discussion, Let's not turn it into another flame war.

let me give you one scenario on cross ads

lets say one of your keywords is "skates"

now your skate ad is attached too a site that talks about or sells machinery moving equipment or even equipment moving companies

this is because one of the tools involved in said topic is also called skates they are steel plates with wheels they use to move equipment with

also those conveyors you see in factories with metal wheels that look like those skates that strap to your shoes those are also called skate wheel conveyors

this folks is how cross ads occur

Randy, I really don't understand why you were offended by comments posted in this discussion. Is it because you started the topic and you didn't want it to go in the direction it did? What is a forum for, if not to discuss and debate topics and issues?

Think about how it might make the rest of us feel, when you say you are the only person who participated in this discussion who knows what they are talking about.

Edward started this discussion in reply to Fanjet8's thread, Then people started dissecting my responses as it went on which is fine, but it also starts to show maybe I'm FOS since the new people reading this have no idea I had google ads on here

Kathie, after the squat thread ordeal I don't really care what most here think

with that said I'm done with this topic .. and this brings up a good question is there a way on here too block threads that a person may not wish to view ?

I guess you've made that very clear.

Randy, you have a right to feel the way you feel but please tone down the abrasive comments. They tend to start flame wars. If you don't want to follow a thread, don't read it. If you want to block a specific user's posts, you can do it in the User Control Panel, like this:

User CP -> Edit Ignore List

This thread was written as a request of sorts for a solution to what I see is several problems...which is Ads for Distributors who frequent Skatelog get lost and members of Skatelog purchase skate items from someone or someplace else...Distributors competing with each other in a less desired manner causing conflict in some cases...no central location for Distributors to sell their wares on Skatelog (what FanJet8 appeared to try to solve in his thread)...and I figured everyone could use more money (Skatelog).

I think Kathy prey much stated the direct sell of Ad space ain't gonna happen. I had no intention of this thread denegrating to such a point. I apologize for posting it in the first place but I am always looking to improve. People here on Skatelog are always talking about we are family here...I thought that family cohesion could work in terms of Distributors and those looking to purchase skate items as well and help people make a little money. I am not now and have no intention of becoming a Distributor.

Please feel free to delete this thread.

Edward, I have no problem with you opening a discussion about the possibility of advertising in the SkateLog Forum and I'm fine with people talking about their personal experiences on both sides of Google ads (AdWords and AdSense). All very interesting topics as far as I'm concerned.

I posted my thread to help current and new members find skates and parts from forum members who went out of their way to become distributors. I know it is not a true money making business but it helps the common skater get the gear they want/need at a better price than at the rinks which has a terrible mark-up. I have purchased a lot of stuff from a lot of the quad forum members here and was just trying to pass along good helpful information. In my opinion all current member/distributors have been nothing but helpful honest and fair priced dealers for all of us and my goal was to support all forum members first.

your right. i have found that a web site makes very little money where as my store makes a profit vs. investment. I think in order to have a good skate store you need both a retail location and a site. they help each other with sales.

it picked up because of the word ULTIMATE hence ultimate plate discussions

another reason google ads isn't worth a hoot like i tried to say before all the debates

i have seen radar ads , laser ads etc on here because of heavy discussions here

and how many people on here care about dodge towing trucks anyway ?

my point was and still is had anyone clicked that ad that would cost that advertiser a few pennies

It's perfectly understandable that you would not want to keep buy Google ads if they were not helping you make money.

We can always find reasons to have the things we think are necessary...even when they bare no resemblance to producing anything of value other than money.
