I don't know how close you are to Evansville, but oldnslow (Doug) is the coach for the team there.

Ft. Wayne is probably the closest.
There are 2 rinks, both involved in quad racing:

Regular inline racing is done until fall. If you are really interested, go to the Cincinnatti Easter meet. There's no quad racing there, except perhaps a fun race, but many of the quad race teams will be there skating inlines, so you can talk with them about their training programs. More at:

The quad league is having a banquet May 18 in Danville, IL, another chance to meet people. Information about that, and the league in general (like the fall schedule, when it's set):

You'd also be welcome to skate Quat Nationals July 19 in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Information is at the link below (scroll down) and related pages:

Hey, I'm traveling to Evansville next week, but I didn't think they had a rink. Does any one have a link?

Oldnslow, are you out there?

Bell's Skating Rink in New Haven is also bringing their speed team back. Ready to compete in the 2008-2009 season.

Sorry to resurrect the tread...

I'd like to see a team in Muncie again. Today after session, a few of us ran some laps today, and I think that I have now found a new sport that I want to get into more actively.

I have problems getting up to Ft. Wayne myself, sure it's only a couple hours' drive, but finding a sitter for the 9 month old while I run off to go fast and turn left is kinda tough at the moment. I just want to work on my technique a little, and shave a few pounds first.

It is looking like I don't have much choice though, but I might talk to the owners and see what their thoughts are about it...

I'm just not sure how to break the Ice there...

Starting a team can be easy. Find 2 or 3 skaters of responsible age who want to do it. Talk with the owner to find times which would otherwise be unused, and what would make it win-win for the rink owner. For sure you want the owner to trust you so s/he doesn't need to pay an employee to supervise you. Perhaps a moderate amount of money will be what's needed by the rink owner. Perhaps some effective publicity bringing in more session skaters. Perhaps putting in some hours doing something the rink needs done.

Jerry Shipman also runs a practice on the south side of Indy. I don't know the name of the rink though. Hoover cold tell you.
