Ask DocSk8 (Expert Indoor Skate Building Advice) This forum is different then the other SkateLog forums in that it is not a discussion forum, but rather a place you can ask skate building expert Fred "DocSk8" Benjamin about building and repairing indoor speed, derby, and jamskate quad roller skates. Please start a new thread for each new question.

Default axle nut loosening??

I've been noticing after skating twice on them zanes/reactors.......
one of the axle nuts keeps loosening up........
after I skated the first time,.....it loosened and I tightened it......
then I skated again and it loosened again.......
any ideas as to why this is??
do I need a new nut?........or do I just have a loose screw??..........lmao.

Default Loose nut.

Interesting... The nuts were new as were the trucks.... Is the nut finger tight? How much do you have to tighten it. 1/4 turn? Half turn? More??

Possible causes.
1) Bad nut
2) Bad thread on axle
3) Maybe the nut is not getting loose. Perhaps one of the bearings was not seated all the way. I used a press to install the bearings but improper seating is a possibility.

The first 2 won't go away. The 3rd probably will. Swap a couple of wheels around. See if the problem moves.

Keep me posted.
