Hey y'all. The name is Kyle and I started skating in the early 90's at a local rink in Louisiana. I remember getting my first pair like it was yesterday. I had to sell a hot pink guitar I won from a radio contest and used the money to purchase a pair of Nitro (I think) boots with, coincidentally, hot pink wheels. I eventually saved up enough to buy a set of green Mad Hogs along with the matching case (like the rollerbones one you see around). Those were the days.
Now, I'm 34 and decided get back into it after my girlfriends son decided he wanted a skating party for his birthday. She bought me a pair of Riedell R3s with the SG Zoom wheels and ABEC 7 bearings. I spent about 3 hours at the rink and decided not only is it still a ton of fun, but a pretty decent cardio session as well. In a couple of days I'll be replacing the wheels and bearings with some white Shamans and Bones reds. I cant' wait. |

I'm 34 as well and agree, skating is solid cardio.

Hey fierocious1,
I believe I read something in here where you said you were around the Spring area. is that right? I visit New Caney/Porter fairly often. Any suggestions on rinks in the area? I'm looking for family friendly as well as any that do adult nights. |

Most fun excercise ever & if you're into new moves, some skate tricks can be great for core.
