Default Indoor oval vs 4 pylon track vote

Just curious what y'all think? I'd vote oval for many reasons but would like to hear from others from this board.

Thanks

NIRA style oval. I hear that the new RSA speed League is considering using the oval.

I don't mind either. I would like to see more fluidity on the tracks. They should be proportional to the size of the floor.

I do say with whatever happens. We need to get rid of the 4 inch cones period. I like the NIRA cones better, and they are safer.

I have been vocal on my thoughts...

WE need to modernize our sport, every other sport does to move forward... not the same track for the past 50+ years

Oval is my vote. The 4 cone USAC/USARS track is for wood wheels and powder. It really doesn't work that well with inlines and leads to shorter floor coating lifetime (very narrow track that can be skated entering the corners). It is also difficult to have multiple tracks out on the floor at the same time for running practices with various age groups. Multiple oval tracks are easy to do. The oval track also aligns us better with ice where both long and short track use an oval layout. It is also the same as our outdoor banked tracks... minus the banking

^THIS! I took a really hard digger at the Eastern Regionals because I hit one and it got caught under my skates and stopped me dead.

I personally prefer the 4 cone track. That's probably mostly because it's what I've been used to. However, on the few occasions I've gotten to try the oval track I found that passing required less finesse because of the wider option of lanes. Most people probably prefer that, but I didn't find it to be as much fun.

I stepped into the middle of the cone. The result is not too different, lol!

First race back from my broken ankle, the guy in front of me stepped on pylon # 2 and went down. I fell on him, and the 240 pound guy behind me fell on me. Good times!
