Skating totals: ================== Count: 40 Activities Distance: 512.16 mi Time: 42:47:46 h:m:s Elevation Gain: 18,884 ft Avg Speed: 12.0 mph Avg HR: 124 bpm Calories: 27,852 C Max Distance: 70.36 mi (This past Sunday) Max Avg Speed: 18.6 mph (Northshore Inline Marathon) 0.3 mph slower than August is concerning but the social skates add enough noise to make it difficult to determine if there is a real issue. Hiking Totals ========== Count: 1 Activities Distance: 8.06 mi Time: 2:55:40 h:m:s Elevation Gain: 1,802 ft Avg Speed: 2.8 mph Avg HR: 91 bpm Calories: 867 C Max Distance: 8.06 mi Max Avg Speed: 2.8 mph Total Totals ========= Count: 41 Activities Distance: 520.22 mi Time: 45:41:26 h:m:s Elevation Gain: 20,679 ft Avg Speed: 11.4 mph Avg HR: 122 bpm Calories: 28,875 C Max Distance: 70.36 mi Max Avg Speed: 18.6 mph This is the third 500+ mile month fro 2015 as well as the last. There will be only one long skate this month but it is a doozy: the 87 mile festival of pain known as Athens to Atlanta After that is off season and weather will no doubt take a bite out of my workout schedule. The rain has already begun to fall. |

Skating Totals =================== Count: 39 Activities Distance: 501.11 mi Time: 45:50:58 h:m:s Elevation Gain: 13,610 ft Avg Speed: 10.9 mph Avg HR: 119 bpm Calories: 26,362 C Max Distance: 88.04 mi (A2A) Max Avg Speed: 14.3 mph (Some random morning commute) Despite my September projection, I actually did manage 500+ miles, albeit barely. El Nino has given Southern California some excitement but up here, the rains have been really really weak. The drop in average speed is a bit distressing. I expect some drop in the off season but this seems early and steep. Must be the even commutes are getting very slow because morning commutes and Sunday are always faster than 10.9 Mph. There really ought to be real rain in November so that should cut into my skating. I have some good hikes coming up. The lack of any in October was a bit annoying but hard to avoid given the interference from A2A and Halloween. Last edited by ese002; November 4th, 2015 at 01:06 AM. Reason: typo |

A couple of injuries saw my monthly total drop. 37 hours. I missed 3 days in the month of October.
Sure learned a lot tho! The grind tricks I do precipitates lots and lots of falls. https://vimeo.com/139728966 (notice all the black marks coming down from that coping? Those are my knee and wrist guard black plastic slide marks. lol)

October was a sorry month for skating. The new Powerline Evo skates really wrecked my ankles. Tons of cycling (I don't own a car) but I don't run a GPS or computer on any of my bikes (I have 4 of them).
I did occasionally get out on one or the other longboard (I have 3 of those). I keep one at work and use it to commute from my workplace to the warehouse about 10 blocks away. Anyway...the early darkness can only make it worse. But I am STILL HERE!

I clawed back a bit of that with twice as much hiking as normal. The final tally is quite respectable albeit well off peak season. The increase in average speed is as mysterious and last month's decline. Make no mistake. I'm been moving rather slow this month. A couple of damp skates along with cold air will do that. Best guess is that fewer social skates meant fewer very slow miles to bring down the total. No bike rides this month but it looks like that will start this week. Thursday looks hopelessly raining to skate to work. I hope my tires are OK. I haven't been on the bike in several months. |

Awesome!
I had ZERO miles this month skates and longboard. Minor injuries, weather, darkness, and my local skate location wrecked for two solid months by construction. Keep in mind tho...I don't own a motor vehicle so everything I do is on one of 4 bicycles rain or shine, day or night. So I am not getting fat just missing the Hell out of my time on skates and longboards. This weekend looks promising. Just posting to let y'all know I am still here getting pleasure from you maniacs.

Weather and the Holidays conspired to greatly reduce volume. Not a single Sunday Canada Road workout actually happened. It may have been just as though. A tail bone fall on the 4th greatly reduced the intensity that I could manage. I cut one skate to work early because it just too painful. I doubt any of my long work workouts would have doable. Fortunately that is in the past. I healed in about four weeks as expected. January I only have El Nino and de-training to deal with. |

For the latter, I was able to substitute cycling. Still, I managed to skate more miles in January than all modes combined in December. This will not repeat. I got laid off on Friday. In the near term that probably translate to fewer, longer skates with fewer miles overall. The longer term is tangled up in the usual uncertainty. I will not be racing Vegas on account that the entire event was cancelled. I hope I can settle into a new skate commute friendly work place before my next race. This might not be until July or even August since we lost Napa. |

Fewer skates since I'm not doing the skate twice a day regiment from when I was commuting. Mileage is down only slightly, better than expected. Average speed is down due to longer skates on roads that don't lend themselves to consistent high output. I'm in early discussions about a gig in South San Jose. The route from my house is just over 15 miles long. Skating 30 miles round drip each day is probably not a good plan. |

Dang ese! Lots of hours there. 54 is brutal!
I only turned in 37h10m this month, HOWEVER and it's a big however, It was the most productive and rewarding month, possibly of my entire career. I learned more tricks this past month than I have in the past 8 years.

First the excuses.
My days off are Friday and Saturday where I can put in big miles and hours. The weather sucked for most of them this month. And some Spring festivals pirated my skating areas. And there was a massive flood north of the lake where I can do 60 miles on a popular Rail-Trail. Now the good news. I got into freestyle slalom INSIDE my house! Hardwood floors, 60 feet long, and about 8 feet width of skating area. Gotta move some furniture but within 10 minutes I have the cones down and skates between them. This month: Only about 20 hours on skates. Thats about 143 miles by the hardest (not including slalom distances - 'cause who knows?) 469.13 skating miles for the year so far not including slalom. I also am car free, so I bike to work every day for roughly 200 cycling miles every month. Next month might be worse. Gotta work 2 weeks without a day off end of April. Sucks. Later Guys!

Two consecutive Sundays were rained out. The third had a wet final lap. Last week was clear and dry but the rangers opted not to close the road. I still got my 39 miles in but performance suffers when I'm stuck in the bike lane watching for cars. However, I really cranked out the miles in the 10 days or so owing to little useful job hunt activity. The result is actually more skating miles than February and only down by 10 miles for the total. The last can be attributed to a hike that was rained out. As usual, I have little clue what April will be like. I do know that I will not be skating at all this coming Tuesday and Wednesday due to a tradeshow. But that is only two days. |

Got 40 hours in this past month.
Started doing less hours, and more activities. When I get tired is when I start missing tricks and crash. Can't be injured. Got a huge video shoot this weekend. A pro blader/film producer are flying in to do a documentary on my old asss. lol Apparently I'm the oldest ACTIVE trick blader out there. Like the world. There are a few older than I that go back and forth and still roll, but they're not lacing tricks. I skated a little today, and plan on taking off until the film crew gets here on Friday. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IGOwy47ahLA (last training session today in my backyard. )
