Default Editing and Deleting Posts and Titles

I'm finding the vBulletin forum software to be very powerful and very flexible. It seems I can make it do almost anything. I'm sure there must be limits, and we will discover those we go along, but so far I am impressed with the forum's capabilities. Be sure to let me know if you don't like any of this forum's behavior. There is probably a way to change it.

For example, people are asking why they cannot edit the title of a discussion they started. Well... it turns out there is a time limit parameter on editing titles and also on editing messages that can be set by the admin. (Evidently so people can't post a flame and change it later to something totally innocent). I don't see any reason to enforce a time limit on how long you guys can edit your own messages, so unless we start having problems, I won't. The default time limit was 5 minutes and I set it to one million minutes, which I think is about 2 years.

Users will not be able to delete posts or threads, but they can edit them to alter the content. It can be confusing if people are deleting posts that have been responded to, so we at least want to retain a record of the fact that so-and-so did post a message, even if the content is no longer there. If you make a mistake, or double post, just delete the content and I will try to keep those messages cleaned up as I have in the past.
