I think I forgot how to work out. Life...Don't talk to me about life...
That said, got a lift in yesterday. One round, really quick, of Rear Squats, Poliquin step ups, split squats x6 at 200; RDLs & DLs x6 at 250, with Chest dips x8. Quick but got it in.

Staying busy I see, F2B. Life I understand there donnybrook. Work been busy. Got a couple of good 2+ hour indoor sessions with the kiddos last 2 weekends. Finally got back outside for about 3 miles down the river path this week. Go in the morning, getting too warm for afternoons for me.

That was just a little out of reach - it's gets REMARKABLY difficult to fit in that sort of mileage into a training plan on top of your everyday life AND stay healthy and respecting your body when every little niggle is felt from the last day. week 11/05: 185km week 18/05: 225km week 25/05: 265km week 01/06: 270km Block Total: 945km (590 miles) 3 weeks to taper now. Ready as I'll ever be.

Solid skate session last Saturday with Team Rainbo in Chicago, there for a visit. 16 miles in about 1:09:00 and some change. Legs sore from the maintenance lift earlier in the week. Lungs weren't bugging me too bad, just not enough in the legs to keep with the line. They didn't beat me by much in distance.

Thursday/Friday meant flash flood in the basement... Not like we are trying to sell the place or anything...
![]() Saturday, rain sucks, go away. Slide board technique intervals in the garage. Felt pretty good, actually. 3 sets of 1min x 1min intervals x5 reps with 3-5 minute breaks between sets. Sunday, hips and legs felt like I did 20 miles on Saturday, I have been missing the slide board. Went out hoping for 15 miles. Got in 12.7 in 1:03:09 at 12.1 mph average and 159 bpm HR Average. All that rain trashed the trails. One section was washed out and they were trying to fix a drain pipe burst. Meant I had to walk through some mud. Also a lot of slippery wet stuff after mile 5 on the trail so I turned around and carefully headed back. Technique wasn't working for me, either, though it was better. Legs and ankles too tired to get on my edges. It was nice to get out, but it was a hard skate. Little warmer than it has been lately, too.

Feel like I need to catch up. Tuesday, got in a quick 6.02 mile trip in 25:50.42 at 14 mph average and 156 bpm average HR. Pretty good pace for dead wheels, though.
Wednesday, I did my maintenance lift working on strict form, engaging my lats and lower back in the lifts, deep squats, etc. Rear squats, poliquin step-ups, split squats 2x6 at 200; RLDs & DLs 2x6 at 250, chest dips 2x6. Thursday, went for a "recovery" skate. No intention of pushing hard, and really didn't think I was, but still managed to get 7.31 miles in 31:59.85 at 13.7 mph avg and 153 bpm HR average. Worked technique, and building speed from technique. Clearly, I need to do more of this. Friday is rest day, my legs are sore from Wednesday. Hope to get a couple of sessions in over the weekend, though. My race scheduled has changed. Looks like the Chicagoland will be my only marathon this year. I have a conference to attend the weekend of the NorthShore. That means I get a 10k in next weekend, and one marathon this year. Maybe the stars will align and I can race the MN half, but that isn't realistic.
