Kettering OH friday nov 20 and saturday nov 21

Ill have at least 4 people with me, possibly as many as 9 other skaters.

Theres a few loggers on here in driving range, hopefully they will show up

Orbitz has a new floor and its not far from that area

Sounds great, looking firward to it. I'll have at least two, probably three, and hopefully four if my oldest can get a day off work.

The saturday skate wil need to be in the daytime. I have a 4 hour drive back that night.

Orbitz is close to the kettering rink.

I think Castle has just evening sessions. Orbitz floor doesnt have stuff in the center, and may be a nicer session rink to attend. Ill get the rink times.

Alternate rinks, and their times, I am not checking locations other than that they are in the columbus/dayton/Cincinnati area. It may be a good idea to stay where there is the option of a different rink in case one of the sessions we attend sucks. Or if you want to visit more than 2 rinks.

This rink is close to Orbit and Kettering.




Myself, I love what most would call a crowded floor. Our smaller rink here where I live doesn't get enough people for me until theres about 100 + people on it.

Of the rinks listed i have been to orbit on an adult night, kettering and castle on publics and I liked castle more. Orbitz has a brand new floor and is a skating rink, the floor is very large. Kettering is a fun center of sorts, they dont have as many skaters, as there are just kids on skates.

I dont have time constitutances. So what works for you? As said earlier it would be good to keep th e option of a second rink in mind for either day just in case. I like to backwards skate and some rinks in the area dont like that. Orbit doesnt care, nor did kettering.

If it sucks we'll have time to move on. I'm kinda oposite, I love a fairly empty rink.
As for backwards, we've never seen a no backwards rink in these parts. Can't really imagine it. I go backwards more than forwards. It would be a challenge for me to not turn around.

Yea, the rinks around there were my first encounter with such strict no backwards. The other place was Champs in Lexington Kentucky.

Friday session? Orbitz? Castle?

I didnt plan things as timelines go.

Personally I didn't like kettering that much overall. maybe because it was empty to me, or because of its setup. But the rules were pretty lax and no one complained at my speed or backwards.

The times I went to Orbit was an adult skate, and castles session was a weekend. Good crowd but they are one of those "no backwards skating" well, you can on the inside of the rink, or only during special skates, they allow full rink for backwards skating.

I really wanna check out Orbits since they have a new floor.

Ill make a list of rink potentials and times, what time must you leave out on Saturday? What time will you be in on friday? How late or earky do ya wanna skate?

I told dmacalk that I would be in Kettering on Friday the 20th at 5:30.

I found my drive was really just 2.5 hours so we can stay until 9 or 10 on Saturday. We can check out the new floor at orbit if you like. I'd really like to get on the road earlier though. A day skate on saturday would be nice.

Left out of the above discussion is another Cincy rink, Beechmont Rollarena, which has a good adult night once a month. Unfortunately it was last Friday.

Castle in Cincinnati for friday? This way saturday in the kettering/dayton area is closer for your return right?

one rink on friday might be a good call as it keeps us out of the cars after a long haul. Then we can get rink crazy on Saturday.

Ummmm... Maybe during regular sessions. Certainly NOT during the adult skate Tim and I went to. There was even a guy playing saxophone skating backwards!

adult skates pretty much have no rules, you do what ever you want. Lol if your being a jackass its likely several skaters will let you know your not welcomed
