Default Roland Mcvicker

Some How I Forgot My Password To The Speed Skating
(old Time Quad Speed Skaters Forum)
So I Can't Log On There.
A Fellow Asked If Anyone Knew Roland Mcvicker?
I Remember Him And Back In 1976 In The 440 Final At Nationals Roland Grabbed Tim Small's Jersey And Pulled Tim To The Floor.
It Was Right At The Start Of The Race.
Tim Got Up Off The Floor And Still Finished 3rd. Pat Bergin Says It Was One Of The Fastest Race (racer) He Ever Saw And Tim Finished 3rd. He Set The Record In The Heat 0:42.9.
That Was The Only Race Tim Never Won In Two Years He Won All The Other Races And Relays. So He Had 9 First And I Third In His Division (sr. Men) And 8 First In The Relays. No One Will Ever Top That.
Tim Was A Team All By Himself.

i remember roland, althought not very well and i'm sure he wouldn't remember me another great one from the days when skating acually mattered. i missed the race that your talking about. my first mationals was in 77 on stupid plastic wheels, little jim cooks and them little rannalis. i wasn't good enough to make in 74/75 and 76. i bet buggy remembers him.lol.

My husband, Kevin Larson, said he relayed with Roland back in the 80s. At the time he was skating for Plaza for Donn Calvano.

Tony - we'll be at the meet in Cincinnati next week. We skate for Fast Forward. Say "hi."

Default Roland Mcviker

Well The "old Man" (me) Was Wrong It Wasn't Roland Mcvicker Who Pull Tim Small Down It Was
Pete Skias.
Saw Jandklarson At The Cincy Speed Meet Over The Weekend
It Was Great Meeting Them On The Fast Forward Team
And All The Other People I Meet
Buggy And Mary Did A Great Job With The Meet And That Bum Buggy Hasn't Changed In 40 Years. God! I Love Those Guys!
I Sure Hope This A Yearly Meet And It Grow Every Year.
Then This Old Man Can Enjoy Speed Skating Close To Home.
I Guess Sonny Felter And His Team From Austin Came The Furtherest.
I'm Hoarse From All The Laughs We Had. Marcia Yager - Patty (lipscomb) Hall - Steve Buck And My Daughter Were There To
And Sooooooo Many Old Names Came Up.
Oh Well I Have Great Memories Of Those Old Time Racers.
My Daughter' Roller Derby Team Won Their First Bout Of The Season Last Night In Indpls., Ind

Hi Tony - it was great meeting you as well!!!!! And the conversation we had with you on Saturday afternoon continued on Saturday evening when we were sitting around with Buggy and Mary

Too funny, Kevin just said the same thing about who pulled Tim Small down - Pete Skias. Kevin said he used to race Pete as well.

Again, it was a great pleasure meeting you!! Look forward to seeing you again next year

Default Easter Meet

Jandklarson
The Meet Was Great And I Talked To A Ton Of People.
If You Spent The Evening With Buggy And Mary Talking Speed I'm Sure You Guys Had A Great Time.
To Me Talking About Old Times - Old Timers - And Exciting Races From The Past Is One Of The Best Parts Of Meets.
My Friend Buggy Is In The Hall Of Fame For Coaching But He
Surely Needs To Be In The Hall Of Fame For Racing Too.
He First Placed At Nationals In 1962 And He Is Still Racing Today.
No One Comes Near To His Accomplishments.
The First Meet We Had Here In Cincinnati He Came And His Name Made Our Meet A Success And Each Year It Grew. We Had 9 Heats Of Senior Men. Over A 100 Racers In The Open 5 Mile. To See The Start Of A Open 5 Mile With A 100 Or More Racers In It Is Unbelieveable.
Can't Wait Until Next Year. Only Next Year I'll Go Out To Eat With Everyone And Stick Around For All The Stories.
