Ask DocSk8 (Expert Indoor Skate Building Advice) This forum is different then the other SkateLog forums in that it is not a discussion forum, but rather a place you can ask skate building expert Fred "DocSk8" Benjamin about building and repairing indoor speed, derby, and jamskate quad roller skates. Please start a new thread for each new question.

Exclamation Not recommended.

It is unlikely the loose ball races will leave a perfect 22mm hole when they are removed. I have seen guys try it but I was not Impressed with the results. Ya want them to roll straight and true.

I used to do that with wheels like the Vanguard Red Devils, Metaflex Dragsters, Easy Riders, et.al., stuff like that. Pry the looseball cups out and insert the precision bearing.

You must run a bearing spacer to be successful, however, for reasons you just described. They'll get slightly out of alignment and won't roll for crap. Install a spacer and crank the axle nut down tight. If they don't turn, you need a wider spacer.
