What is Your Roller Derby Name?

I was musing about the derby members' names and tried to figure out what kind of name I would have if I was one.

So whats your derby name, and/or if you want one what would it be?

I have a name, Ivana Tripabitch. You might want to check the Master Roster at http://www.twoevils.org/rollergirls/ to get some inspiration and check for similarities.

Untill yesterday I didn't know what roller derby was - now Im amazed. I saw some videos on You Tube, the girls are freakin' crazy, such an atitude! And the names, the names are the best! There's no space for silly girls.

You should definately check it out. Gotham is phenomenal and so fast. They have teams that fly around the track at lightning speed and agility.

My name is PowerSnatch with Big Easy Rollergirls here in New Orleans. I'm thinking of modifying it though since I have just had my left ankle surgically repaired after a nasty fall during our last home bout. BionicSnatch anyone?

I saw some clips from their website and all, but I don't think I have that same fever to keep up with it. Tryouts closed 2 weeks ago too so I'd have to wait til next year for that.

I have been everywhere on this forum except the Roller Derby section.. bad me!

My RD name is SweetNightShade.. everyone calls me sweet. It was not easy to come up with, took about 3 weeks and I am a pretty creative person. Just when I had something it would already be registered. Ack! Sweet was my nickname as a kid.. my hubby gave me the poisonous part (hmmm what's he sayin with that lol?)

Hi! I am Calamity Wren. I skate with the Sacred City Derby Girls in Sacramento, California. I love my skate name. Part of it, Wren, has been a nickname since childhood. My husband, loving derby widow that he is, gave me the first part when I told him I wanted to join derby. I tend to be a bit accident prone on or off skates, so it suits me very, very well!

Our refs use a lot of legal-ease for their names. Lionel Hurtz, Melfeasance, etc. Many happen to be lawyers (like many of our skaters--myself included), but even without the legal connection, these are funny since they are the rules police. I would steer clear of too much sexual overtone if you are a guy. This gives the wrong impression in my opinion and you can get labeled needlessly.

Well I'm not allowed to register my name yet because my team has a bunch of rules for time and skill sets before you register. Which would be fine if 75% of the team hadn't gotten to skip them and I hadn't gotten hurt in my first scrimmage and been out for 4 weeks already and had knee surgery two days ago. (Sorry, I'm just a little up tight because I've had better pratice attendence than 98% of the team even though I'm on crutches and can't skate, and I've been at every fundraiser & activity. Could I get a little credit for dedication to my team.)

Anyway, since my nickname is Christmas and everyone calls me that (even my Mom) I wanted to stay with that theme. (In the SCA I'm Christmas Albanach, and other than at work all my friends call me Christmas). So my derby name is going to be Christmas Stalking #1225.

Sorry to be all grumpy. I love my team. I'm just in pain from the surgery and frustrated that I can't skate.

Sorry Christmas...it does suck to be injured. I broke my ankle in our December bout and had to have surgery to fix it (with a 6 inch plate and screws). I'm back skating, but I am not in good enough shape to bout this weekend in our double-header against two out of town teams. I'm totally bummed about it too, but it's no good to rush your recovery and end up ending your derby career.

Keep your chin up and do all your physical therapy!

Hey i'm new! I roll with a fairly new league (we've been together about 9 months) The Star City Rollergirls in Roanoke, VA. My derby name is The Ace Face #1 or 11. It's from a Who movie called Quadrophenia where Sting played an ultra mod that everyone wanted to be. I've always been fascinated with mod culture, so it just sounded perfect for me, plus it rhymes! of course it took me about 3 months to come up with it.

I didn't know you guys had derby in Roanoke Va. I will have to come check it out the next time I am up that way! I live very close to Martinsville, so it isn't a huge drive
