This new forum is 100% owned and operated by Jessica.

Default Fort Lewis 10k Skate Race - Nov.17th

It's on the Fort Lewis site http://www.fortlewismwr.com/race_calendar.htm

The race is scheduled for November 17, 2007.

It's a lot of fun if you're in the area, but not worth travelling more than an hour or two for. It's piggybacked onto a running event, and they close the roads and post spotters. It almost always rains for this event. But it's a lot of fun, and after about 3 or 4 years doing this event, i know the course well enough to not get lost anymore.

Hope to see slowsk8, mVirtue, and NWGlenn there this year. Madeline too.

LOCATION: Trexlertown, PA (near Allentown, PA and just minutes off of I-78)
VENUE: Closed 1 mile loop at the Rodale Fitness Park. The track is smooth...
DISCIPLINE: speed, fitness, recreational
EVENT WEB SITE: www.easternseaboardseries.com
EVENT DESCRIPTION: Races of various distances for pro (a 15K or a 21K, depending on the date), advanced (10K) and recreational skaters (5k). There will be a 50K at the August race. The series finale is the Debbie Kohl Memorial race, in honor of speed coach Debbie Kohl who died young several years back, and which benefits Special Olympics, a group she was very involved with.

Having skated this series 2 years in a row, I can tell you it is alot of fun!! The course is great, it's well organized with great trophies and series age division winners last year (based on total points accumulated during the series) won nice windbreakers! There are skaters of all abilities and ages. Other SL members who have competed there are Francisco (excelsk8), myself and hubby Kevin, and my good friend Anne (SkateSkateSkate)! Hope to see lots of SL members there!!

august 31 / september 1 (24 hours...)
Oldenzaal (that is the netherlands)
Hulsbeek - recreational park
this 24 hour race is an estafette race - teams can have maximum 6 members. The purpose is to gather money for the child cancer fund. So far 31 teams have subscribed - all with sponsoring.

some very prominent dutch sporters like Yvonne van Gennip (olypic champion ice skating) and Inge de Bruijn (olympic swimmer) support the race and will be present.

I will take part in one team too -
