Arrow FinLine 2011 - the 20th anniversary skating event in July

Hello everybody (including those who have joined FinLine some year already)!

Next summer it is time to skate the 20th "FinLine" multi-day long-distance skating event in Finland. On the 10th anniversary we skated from the Finnish Lapland down to the south-most city of the continental Finland. This summer we are going to skate across the country, starting from the Russian border and following the old Blue Highway to the western coast on the country.

The detailed information on this event can be found on Street Gliders' site. Also again this year I am not anymore taking care of the organizing but I am pretty sure that I will still skate the whole event: it will be then my 19th FinLine.

The event is open for every skater around the world, so do not hesitate to contact the organizers if you are interested to attend this exceptional event. And why it is so exceptional:
  • Organized by the skaters for themselves (not a commercial event)
  • Service bus carries the luggage, no need to carry your backpack
  • You can join for the whole nine days, or for only those days you want
  • You do not need to skate the whole day-trip - you can use the service bus at any time if you feel so
Especially the last bullet has enabled several new FinLine skaters to join the event in previous years. For example, if you want to join the event but you are not sure if you can skate the whole distance, you can skate what you want and then take a free bus ride for the rest of the day.

And some material to get in the correct mood:
I hope to see as many foreigners as possible next summer on FinLine! (I have already registered myself, so I am not worried about my seat on the trip ...)
