The Empire Roller Rink in Columbia, Missouri has been owned by the same family for almost 70 years, but now it is up for sale. Frank Trent opened the rink in 1938. After he died in 1946 his wife ran the rink until she died herself in 1963. Since that time their son Willie has owned the rink but he's ready to retire and neither of his kids are interested in taking over the rink. The rink is about 11,000 square feetand they're asking $1.5 million for it. I guess I had no idea what a roller skating rink could cost.
I hope somebody buys it! - Kathie More of this story in a Columbia Tribune Article: http://columbiatribune.com/2007/Sep/20070908Busi003.asp |

Kathy that price tag is for the real estate, not the business. I have read several articles just like this one. I checked out a rink in Bowling Green KY a few months ago. The rink is located in a prime spot, but the building is in bad shape. The interior needs alot of upgrades and the rental skates were in terrible condition. He was also asking $1.5 million. The Business is worth about $250,000. The rest is the real estate.
