Default NEW Bont Quad Skate

After 13 years the Bont Quad Skate is back! Bont stopped making quad skates at the top of our game winning numerous world titles before the inline boom. Now, with a resurgence in quad skating in the USA, we have brought back our famous Black Widow skate. However, the new skate takes advantage of all the latest technological advances of the past decade such as carbon composite base and SMT. The look of the quad skate is based on Bont's new cycling shoe. Price is only $199. Available NOW. Only available in Blue.

I dont think I like them. They dont allow your foot to move. That heel looks too wide for me too. I like the old style much better too!

Gee, that's a pretty big series of statements, given that all you've done is glanced at an obviously tweaked publicity photo.

I'm ordering a set of boots tomorrow - stay tuned for the review and some 'real world' photos. Gee, I finally have a use for my spare Boen plates. Woot!!!

Looks awesome!

Which is why it sucks. Quad skaters get all the love from rinks, but at least us inline skaters have the cooler looking gear. So no, anything that upsets this crucial balance is not appreciated.

Well, my heel goes IN at the back, so I think it would slip right out. I have very narrow heels and small ankles. Plus, carbon fiber, fantastic for inlines, but on my trucks, my feet do move. I like the outer counter to be hard, but still allow some shifting of my foot for maneuverability. I prefer hard leather which still allows this.

Would be nice to hear feedback! I'm sure inliners that are used to using their ankles to turn will like this better then quad skaters that are used to using their feet more.

What is the mounting sistem? In the old boots (leather base), you coulde drill the holes in any place (for different plates). Whit carbon base, I don't know how can we do this.

Very first impression.... GAAAAHHHHHHHH that is FUGLY!!!!

But, that is based on a single pic. I probably looks better in person.

Honestly, it is about time we quad speed skaters got something new. I can't wait to get my hands on a pair.

The SMT is their Super Mold Technology, so they are moldable. Dudette, you will be able to throw this in an oven and then put your foot in it and conform it right to your heel. It also "looks" rigid but if its like the semi-race inline boot material it will have some flex to it too.

I am curious too though about the mounting.

As far is its looks, right now I am not a fan, but I certainly didn't like that red semi-race either but its growing on me.

I think I will stick with my Oberhamers and Riedells. These are pictures of the Bike Shoe on their website. I also have concerns about the mounting choices with this "boot" I will have to wait and see. They have a good reputation for quality products so I am sure they will be ok. I have never been a fan of that low cut of boot.
Hey Susan, I think I am gonna stick with my quads at practice for a while. I think I am going to go with a semi race or a powerslide R4 for more ankle support. I am very frustrated on the inlines. So I think I am gonna ditch them until I get a different pair.

In the old style Bont Quad boots, the leather covered the fiberglass and you could drill the plate anywhere you wanted. In the new Bont Quad skate, you can still drill them anywhere you want. The only difference is that there is no leather over the base. We know some of you like to mount the plate really far forward, so we have reinforced the heal to allow you to do that.

Thanks for the update alx. I love the colors. Hey alx while I have your attention, what do you recommed for an old quad racer like me that is really having a hard time with the transition into inline racing. Not only is my body giving me fits but man these things kill my feet.
Should a go with the semi race or go with the Alpha? I really want something that I can keep on my feet for a while. I am getting back into this because my daughter is speed skating now. Doubt if I will ever compete but I love the workout and I cannot get through a practice now.
The above question about transitioning from quad speed to inline speed seems like an interesting topic in itself, worthy of its own thread, so I moved it here:

Transitioning from Quad Speed to Inline Speed

I hope nobody objects to me moving it (if so, please let me know).

Alex, I can't wait to read the reviews of your new quad boot!

The idea is that if a boot fits right, then you don't want any movement. How does your foot squishing around inside the boot make you more maneuverable? Seems like it would make it harder to control.

Inliners don't use their ankles to turn. They try to keep their ankles straight (when you look at them from the front). I thought quad skaters liked something low cut so that they could "steer" the skate around, using the turning ability or the trucks.

Here is some more infor on the quad skate. It is made the same way we made the old quad boots. All in one piece. It is the same as the cycle shoe, so you can check out some of the cycle shoe pages if you are interested in seing how we make them or a video.

If you have abnormal feet, you can fax us a tracing for semi custom which is +$20. We do any width and length up to size 16+. We also do full custom for +$200 which can now be done by laser scanning if you are in Colombia, Switzerland, Melbourne or LA.

I like to have some support in my speed quads. Still need to be able to control the edge, but not so much support that is too restrictive to prevent leaning over like some art boots.

Next question: WHERE CAN WE GET THESE NEW BOOTS, AND HOW SOON?

That makes sense. Thanks.

It will be a personal preference, I personally like a higher speed boot, but this should appeal to those that like the 195.

I know jam skaters are always looking for a new look as a boot. i just know that the buckle concept does not work for them. Nice looking boot though.
