Default What tape for wood floor with Roll-On?

We had a bout last week, and when we were done and started pulling the boundary tape up, it left glue on the floor (insert unhappy rink owner comments here). When we tried cleaning it up with Goo-Gone, we made it worse because Goo-Gone is oil-based. The rink owner nearly had a heart attack when she saw us doing that. We got it all cleaned up with Vinegar and water, but I need to know, what is a better alternative? What do you derby teams use that doesn't leave glue on the floor, yet stays down well enough not to roll up on the wheels?

Barring that, what glue cleaner is Roll-On safe?

good question! I would think a masking tape (maybe a painters tape of some sort) would be the only thing I would risk putting on a floor.

I have never thought about putting tape on a floor.. I bet the owner was about to have a stroke!

I've seen our Rollergirls use the "BLUE" masking tape. It doesn't leave a residue and comes up easy. Don't use yellow masking tape, black electrical tape or duct tape.....very bad. It will pull up the plastic.

We thought of painters tape, since it is designed not to leave a residue. My concern is that it won't stick well enough not to come up on peoples wheels. Has anyone got experience with painters tape?

More ideas please!

It holds fine. Sticks good enough for them.

Blue painters tape works great... just don't try and use it to hold a rope boundary down, as soon as a skate touches the stuff it splits!

They use the blue masking tape at our rink too without any problems.

we use blue painters tape over rope, and it works fine. We also have a track painted at our practice rink.

Default MAT TAPE

Wrestling mat tape is what we use. It is perfect for any floor. And it sticks good and easy to come up with no mess. We left ours down semi-permanently to use for practice also. Then on bout day we use small line with clear packing tape to hold it down. (packing tape because it is cheaper than using more mat tape)

OK if you need more info LMK
