Default Thanks for the info!

My girlfriend and I just got back into skating. We've been going to the lessons at the Mesa rink on Sat mornings. Someone told us that the Glendale adult night is like every other month. So is this a change, or did we just hear bad info?

Use to be once every other month, then changed to once a month. They are trying to have an adult night more often if enough people show up.

Yes they do. Karen Sertich is the only one I know.

Hey Bill,

We are heading back to Phoenix next weekend (Saturday the 23rd). We will be at Skateland in Chandler during the day (1-4 I think) and Mesa for the evening session (7-12 or something like that).

Any idea how crowded those sessions are?

There will be more of us this time and most will be staying over. Any hotel recommendations somewhat near the Mesa rink or between there and I-10?

I have no idea how crowded Chandlers 1-4 or Mesa's 7:30-12 sessions are. I haven't skate at Mesa on Saturday night since okie moved from here.
Don't know about motels by the rinks, I live in west Phx.

Well, if you want to go on the other side of town, drop in. If not, we'll be back to the other two eventually.

Default Hotels by Mesa rink

Hi sk8rmom,

I didnt go to the 7:30p-12a session, but I did take my 2yr old for his first rink experience at the 4:30p-7:30p session. It was a pretty solid crowd. There was a bday party going on as well. But the floor was pretty full. Fortunately, there was little action in the center, so my little man had plenty of space (not that he really needed it).

Regarding hotels, there's a Holiday Inn Express at Country Club and the 60. You can pretty much do anything along the 60 as the rink is not to far from the freeway. The immediate area of the rink is a little on 'not so pretty' side. I'm in Tempe by AZ Mills Mall and it's a 13min drive from my place to the rink.

Unfortunately, next weekend there's a Dominican festival going on, so we can't make it out skating. But my girlfriend and I plan to go down and check out Tucson sometime.

Have Fun!

Yea, I've been to the Mesa rink and know the area is not the greatest around there. I haven't googled hotels yet. I need to do that soon. Something back in the direction we would be heading the next day would be best.

Sorry you can't make it. Come on down to Tucson anytime. I'm usually there on Saturday afternoons, Sunday evenings (family night) and Thursday evenings (adult night). Pretty much everybody there knows me. Ask one of the DJs to point me out, but ask for Lynn not sk8rmom. LOL Can't miss me though. I'll be wearing the skates in my avatar and I wear huge knee pads and wrist guards. I have long brown hair and it's always in a ponytail when I skate. Oh and glasses.

One word of caution though. If mapquest or whatever you use tells you to stay on the freeway and exit 22nd street, don't follow that. The freeway is under construction and you can't exit past Prince Road until after 22nd street (I don't know the exit number for prince road). So, exit when it tells you to for downtown traffic and stay on the frontage road until 22nd street.

Oh, and be very careful when you get to 22nd street and Wilmot Rd (Wilmot is right after Craycroft). There's a camera at that intersection.

Drop me a line on here when you think you are coming down.

Great. If you make it, here's a description of me. I'm short, have long brown hair (will be in a ponytail), black skates with blue laces like in my avatar, but I will have my yellow wicked lips on. I will be wearing protec knee pads and wrist guards. Oh and I wear glasses. I should stand out pretty good. LOL And I will be wearing jean shorts.

Hope to see you there.

Might see you there. I read your description in your other post. I will probably be the only one there with Answer Fusion wheels.
Here's a picture of my skates.

It was great meeting you too Bill. I'm back home in Tucson now. Let me know if/when you and Okie come down. I'll make it a point to go that night.

your friend Mike knew my friend Jesse too. Jesse used to skate at that rink years ago. Small world. LOL

Hey Bill,

Did you go to the Adult night last night? Any good?

I was checking the Glendale rink's website and it has no mention of a Sunday adult night. But I did notice it said they play R&B on Sat nights. I can only probably make it one night this month (babysitting issues), and we need to know which night we should plan: Sat or Sun?

Thanks for any info!

Marcus, I went last night. There was a good crowd, going again this sunday. What I like about adult nights is no kids to watch out for & you can do just about anything you want.
I might go to Mesa this saturday night.

Other AZ skaters? Awesome! Are there going to be anymore adult nights? I'm pretty much stuck at Great Skate for Mesa is a tad far for me. Great Skate is literally 10 minutes from my house.
