Default 2004 Artistic Roller Skating World Championships

I'm starting this thread so everybody can post photos, results, and general information links for the 2004 Artistic Roller Skating World Championships. Here are a few links to get the discussion started.

- SkateLog.com Coverage <--my Photos
- Jayson Sutcliffe's Coverage
- Skater Bill's Photos
- FIRS CIPA Coverage

Are there any other Web sites with photos and articles about the 2004 Worlds?

- Kathie

PS: I'm planning to start separate threads like this for all of the artistic world championships, so we can find the information when we need it.

Great idea Kathie!

http://e-sk8r.com/index.htm has a lot of clips from 2004 and 2003 Worlds.

I found the 2003 clips especially interesting. It showed how popular Artistic Roller Skating is in other countries (Argentina). The 2003 opening ceremony was awesome!

Bill the euro and spanish countries rollerskaters get much more exposure then ours and when worlds is in their country they get much larger crowds then we do here in the good ole usa.

2004 was the only World Artistic Champiionship I have been to. It's been great reading about the other Chamopinships, and other Skaters.

Hopefully I'll get a chance to see another WC soon.

Aint that the truth.. to be honest, every year worlds came up that we knew they'd be in the US most of us were like.. Knowing it wouldn't be anything like Europe or South America.. lets face it, thats the truth. While I like going to the US for a visit, when it comes to skating comps... ummmm... the crowds are just not there which is sad to say, similar to here! Another reason why I dont like the idea of worlds being here next year! and in that god awful place again!

Your so right Jayson, the turnout here in the usa is dismal and disappointing. you should see our nationals, getting worst and worst every year. except for world class nite there is no crowd. 10 years ago u couldnt get a seat on wc nite,,,,now still plenty to go around. there are many reasons for that mostly that our nationals is now too long. along with the numbers down.

With no other WC to comaper it to I really enjoyed 2004. The skating was great and exciting, and the number of great skaters was overwhelming.

I do admit the Italians made a lot of noise and that added to the atmosphere, but I can only imagine what it would be like in a country that supported rollerskating like they do in Europe or South America.

Another thing that made The 2004 WC special was that's where I met Kathie for the first time!

Arent u lucky bill in meeting Kathie,,,,,,i saw the videos of 2004 and 2005 and the skating was amazing,,,,,,,not only are the italians dominating now but the other countries are improving so much also. the indian skater from india doesnt jump very well but he has the best outer back heel spin of the bunch.

the italians are character, back in 2000 when it was in springfield ma we went and they were all on the scooters and did a thing with them at the end of the nite , it was funny.
